Weekly Progress ( Week 2 )
Practical
For the week 2 of Web Design and Production practical class, students are required to create a logo for their own website. The lecturer discussed the distinction between a logo type and a logo. A logotype is a visual symbol representing a brand, while a logo incorporates both symbol and text. Logos are vital for brand identity, fostering recognition, and conveying a company's ethos succinctly. They serve as a powerful visual language, encapsulating the essence of a brand and facilitating immediate connection with the audience.
Lecture
In the lecture, the instructor shared 10 key web design principles. These rules highlight the importance of purpose in guiding website messaging and actions. Quality content, incorporating SEO, should be clear and user-friendly. Real-world language and logical order enhance user experience. Visuals, reflecting a brand's identity, engage users and break up text.
Harmony in design involves elements working together seamlessly. Typography shapes perception, conveying meaning visually. Organized content with a logical flow leads users to a conclusion. Colors, inspired by a brand, set the website's tone. White space and visual hierarchy prevent clutter and simplify navigation.
Authenticity is crucial, emphasizing honesty in design without manipulation. Finally, two case studies, Aween Collins and Idyllik Records, showcased branding, logos, and web design by the lecturer, Fauzi Yusoff.
